"Whether, like Robert Johnson, he has sold his soul to the devil on one of West Flanders' deserted crossroads is a question only he can answer, but his work once again sounds virtuoso, authentic and convincing. De Graeve puts mostly personally-tinged lyrics to time-honoured blues themes, again baking his own bread from them. He excels on the slide guitar and conjures up mean, haunting sounds, but in terms of acoustic fingerpicking (Can't Let Go, Standing On The Sideline ) he can also count. Electric guitars are not forgotten either, (One Of These Days and Pressure).
De Graeve stresses that, for the sake of organic sound, all songs were recorded live and directly. He played the lion's share himself, sometimes pounding along with the rhythm and sparingly accompanied by Mario Vermandel (double bass) and Erik Heirman (drums). Nice to hear how he lets his voice and guitar accents sound together, to add rhythm and melody as many old blues men did."
